Scout the Statline Presents The Hobby Advantage

With the emergence of Elly De La Cruz in the last few weeks and his card prices absolutely exploding, it is important to fill yourself with data driven knowledge to get ahead of the curve. Thankfully, Scout the Statline has just recently developed a tool that does just that. Using advanced data models, and factoring 1st Bowman base auto average price, getting ahead of the curve has never been easier in the card collecting universe.

What is the Hobby Advantage Tool?

The Hobby Advantage tool takes Scout the Statline peak projections and considers the player’s average 1st Bowman chrome base auto price (last 5 ebay sales) and outputs a buy/sell grade. A red/positive grade infers that the player is undervalued and a blue/negative grade infers that the player is being a bit overvalued in the hobby. The tool includes over 400+ prospects from 2019 Bowman to 2023 Bowman. The tool is constantly being updated to capture current market prices. Some of the current key prospects that the tool loves are Tyler Black, Emmanuel Rodriguez, Chase Meidroth, Ryan Clifford, and Carlos Jorge to name a few. A few players that are popular in the hobby that the tool indicates are a sell include Jacob Berry, Druw Jones, and Brooks Lee.

Above are examples of the top “buys” and top “sells”.

A few more intriguing players that the tool rates highly

Ryan Ritter – Widely considered as a defensive first player in the 2022 Draft out of Kentucky, Ritter was not a chase card in 2022 bowman draft. Despite the concerns of how his bat will develop throughout his minor league career, Ritter has already smashed 18 HR so far this year. Due to his influx of power so far Ritter has a projection of 30 HR in 600 MLB AB according to the StS tool. With his base auto price averaging around $7, the tool rates him +1.7 putting him in the top 30 buys.

Victor Scott II – Jumping onto the scene this year with his incredible speed, there is no wonder the tool rates Scott highly. With average power projections but a 70 grade SB projection, Scott falls within the top 50 best buys with his base autos averaging in the $15-$20 range.

Ricardo Cabrera – Off to possibly the best start imaginable to his career, Cabrera is taking the hobby by storm. Hitting .400 with more walks then strikeouts and above average base running, Cabrera is flying up the Hobby Advantage leaderboards. Another player in the top 50 buys, Cabrera has well rounded projections with all three tools over a 45 rating.

Dominic Keegan – With his recent promotion to High-A, Keegan is finally getting some attention in the hobby. Though you can still easily obtain his base auto for around $5-$8, Keegan is one of the better value buys according to the Hobby Advantage tool. With a 60 grade hit projection and average power, Keegan ranks just outside the top 50 buys.

Nelson Rada – With an emphasis on young players in the card collecting space, there is no wonder Nelson Rada is flying up in value. The 17-year-old has stolen 34 bases and obtained a K% of just 17%, the sky’s the limit for Rada. With the highest ranking of the 5, Rada sits comfortably in the top 10 buys with a rating of +2.9 despite his bowman auto prices hovering around the $40 mark. Just beware of the confirmed stolen Rada 1st Bowman cards with reportedly forged autographs.

A few players the tool dislikes

Elly De La Cruz – Though his projections are 60+ for every tool, the tool has no reason to justify the prices of his autos right now. Currently the 4th highest sell rating, the tool is doing its job in determining when to jump ship and take profits.

Brooks Lee – Despite being one of the top chase cards in 2022 Bowman Draft, the tool does not like his price tag. Even if his prices came down, the overall projections are not to high on Lee despite an okay start to 2023.

What will come in the future?

Within the coming months this tool will be completely automated. Bowman autograph average prices will be automatically updated in real time whenever a new ebay sold listing appears. That alone will make this tool completely game changing to the hobby, even if you don’t want to follow the Buy/Sell guide you can quickly comp players’ base auto price.

What makes the Hobby Advantage unique?

This is the only service that projects prospects first 600 MLB at bats and accounts their hobby market price to indicate whether you should buy or sell.
