We polled the Twitterverse for two weeks between September 3rd and September 16th. There was a different poll each day for the following positions:

C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF (3), UT (one extra hitter), SP (4) and RP

Our Prospects of the Year team is comprised of 14 players. This recap includes the polls so you can see which players won, which players may have just missed out, and what the percentages were in each poll.

Here is our Prospects1500 Prospects of the Year team, as voted in by our staff, readers and followers! Thanks everyone for participating.

Catcher – Daulton Varsho, ARI
2019 stats for Varsho: .301/.378/.520/.899, 206 TB, 18 HR, 58 RBI, 21 SB, 159 wRC+ in 108 games for Jackson Generals (AA). Southern League All-Star & named to the Futures Game.

First Base – Ryan Mountcastle, BAL
2019 MiLB stats for Mountcastle: .312/.344/.527/.871, 274 TB, 25 HR, 83 RBI, 2 SB, 117 wRC+ in 127 games for Norfolk Tides (AAA). Triple-A All-Star.

Second Base – Xavier Edwards, SD
2019 MiLB stats for Edwards: .322/.375/.396/.771, 199 TB, 1 HR, 43 RBI, 34 SB, A 135/A+ 100 wRC+ in 123 games between Fort Wayne Tin Caps (A) and Lake Elsinore Storm (A+). Midwest League All-Star.

Third Base – Alec Bohm, PHI
2019 MiLB stats for Bohm: .305/.378/.518/.896, 246 TB, 21 HR, 80 RBI, 6 SB, A 194/A+ 165/AA 146 wRC+ in 125 games between Lakewood BlueClaws (A), Clearwater Threshers (A+) and Reading Fightins (AA). Played in the Futures Game.

Shortstop – Gavin Lux, LAD
2019 MiLB stats for Lux: .347/.421/.607/1.028, 278 TB, 26 HR, 76 RBI, 10 SB, AA 147/AAA 188 wRC+ in 113 games between Tulsa Drillers (AA) and Oklahoma City Dodgers (AAA). Named Dodgers‘ Minor League Player of the Year. Played in the Futures Game.


Outfield – Luis Robert, CWS
2019 MiLB stats for Robert: .328/.376/.624/1.001, 314 TB, 32 HR, 92 RBI, 36 SB, 305/155/136 wRC+ (3 levels) in 122 games between Winston-Salem Dash (A+), Birmingham Barons (AA) & Charlotte Knights (AAA). Named MLB Pipeline Hitter of the Year, Southern League All-Star Game MVP, and played in the Futures Game.


Outfield – Julio Rodriguez, SEA
2019 MiLB stats for JRod: .326/.390/.540/.929, 177 TB, 12 HR, 69 RBI, 1 SB, 164 wRC+ in 84 games between West Virginia Power (A) and Modesto Nuts (A+). Slashed .462/.514/.738/1.252 in only 17 High-A games to end the season, w/243 wRC+.


Outfield – Jarred Kelenic, SEA
2019 #MiLB stats for Jarred Kelenic: .291/.364/.540/.904, 239 TB, 31 2B, 5 3B, 23 HR, 68 RBI, 20 SB, 152 wRC+ in 117 games between (3 levels): West Virginia Power (A), Modesto Nuts (A+) and Arkansas Travelers (AA). Played in the Futures Game & named Mariners Minor League Hitter of the Year.


UT (extra hitter) – Wander Franco, TB
2019 MiLB stats for Franco: .327/.398/.487/.885, 207 TB, 9 HR, 53 RBI, 18 SB, A 155/A+ 157 wRC+ in 114 games between Bowling Green Hot Rods (A) & Charlotte StoneCrabs (A+). Midwest League All-Star and played in the Futures Game.


Starting Pitcher – MacKenzie Gore, SD
2019 MiLB stats for Gore: 20 GS, 1.69 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, 2.77 FIP, 35.7% K%, 7.4% BB%, 135 K in 101 IP between Lake Elsinore Storm (A+) & Amarillo Sod Poodles (AA). California League All-Star and played in the Futures Game.


Starting Pitcher – Grayson Rodriguez, BAL
2019 MiLB stats for Rodriguez: 20 GS, 2.68 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, 2.64 FIP, 34.2% K%, 9.6% BB%, 129 K in 94 IP for Delmarva Shorebirds (A). South Atlantic League All-Star and played in the Futures Game.


Starting Pitcher – Tarik Skubal, DET
2019 MiLB stats for Skubal: 24 GS, 2.42 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, 2.11 FIP, 36.5% K%, 7.6% BB%, 13.13 K/9, 179 K in 122.2 IP between Lakeland Flying Tigers (A+) & Erie Seawolves (AA). Florida State League All-Star.


Starting Pitcher – Matt Manning, DET
2019 MiLB stats for Manning: 24 GS, 2.56 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 2.53 FIP, 28.1% K%, 7.2% BB%, 10.0 K/9, 148 K in 133.2 IP for Erie Seawolves (AA). Eastern League All-Star and played in the Futures Game.


Relief Pitcher – James Karinchak, CLE
2019 MiLB stats for Karinchak: 30 G (13 GF), 8 SV, 2.67 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 1.20 FIP, 59.2% K%, 13.6% BB%, 22.0 K/9 with 74 K in 30.1 IP between Akron RubberDucks (AA) and Columbus Clippers (AAA), and 3 games at Rookie level.

  1. Voters and you guys missed the mark by not having Jo Adell in the polls, then give the honorable mention to Walsh. He was simply called up out of necessity. He sits ranked 22 in our farm, Adell #1.
