Welcome to Prospects1500! As we ring in the New Year I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce everyone to Prospects1500 and briefly explain what we’re all about. If you’re in a dynasty fantasy baseball league that has deep rosters of minor leaguers, then we can help. If you’re a fan of Minor League Baseball and love to know who those organizational “diamonds in the rough” might be that aren’t being ranked on other sites, then look to us. If you just love baseball in general, whether you’re a dynasty leaguer or not, then Prospects1500 should have something for you. 2017 is our first year and we know there will be some growing pains, but we have some good ideas in place and a fairly aggressive plan and are excited to get going!
Who are we?
We are dynasty fantasy baseball nuts and diehard baseball lovers of all ages from around North America (at this point). We have real-life jobs (and classes!) and are all doing this for fun while not paid. Fans of all different MLB and MiLB teams, our widespread geography will allow us to serve our readers well with coverage unlike other sites offer. We’ve scoured the globe (well not exactly the entire globe) and enlisted 30 different correspondents for all 30 MLB organizations. Each Prospects1500 writer will be covering one MLB team and their entire farm system, from AAA on down to the Rookie Leagues. You can meet our Prospects1500 staff and discover who’s covering your favorite team’s minor league squads here: Our Staff
What do we have planned?
The first item on the Prospects1500 agenda is the amazing Top 50 prospects list. For 30 days in January we will release a Top 50 prospects list for each MLB organization. That’s 30 teams x 50 prospects each and there you go. 1500 prospects! That could be a catchy name for a website. It’s an ambitious goal but that’s why we’re here. We have a schedule planned and hope to release a different one each day, but realize that a little flexibility is important and hopefully we don’t have to waver from this schedule much at all. Our staff is made up of sons and daughters, fathers and grandfathers, and people from all walks of life. To us, family is priority number one and then our real-life jobs. This is our hobby, but we take it seriously and will strive to become another quality resource for those seeking the information we plan on providing.
Following the team Top 50 lists we are going to release the Prospects1500 Overall Top 150. It will be a composite ranking using a unique statistical formula that we have developed. Look for this Overall Top 150 sometime in early February after all 30 our our Top 50 lists have been released. After that as we head into Spring Training, the WBC, and then the MLB regular season, our staff will continue to work. Each Prospects1500 reporter will provide a monthly update for their team’s minor leagues. It might be a scouting report and pictures direct from a minor league game. It could be an update to their organization’s Top 10 or 20 prospects and a feature on certain players that have been promoted to the big leagues. We’ll have updates that are recaps and spotlights of the prospects that stood out statistically during that month. The plan is for these monthly updates to run through September and the close of the MLB regular season.
In addition to the monthly organization updates there will be other items that our Prospects1500 staff wants to write about. You can find in-depth recaps of the recent Winter Meetings and Rule 5 Draft on the site already. There’s a pretty important MLB Draft that happens in June. Some of our Prospects1500 team will be in Miami for All Star Game weekend and the Futures Game in July. Plus we all know that prospects will be traded throughout the season and especially as we near the MLB trade deadline. These are the types of events, games and happenings you can expect to find coverage on here at Prospects1500.
We are always looking for suggestions and feedback. Please feel free to comment on any of our articles or prospect rankings and lists. Email us at prospects1500@gmail.com. Follow us on Twitter at @Prospects1500. We’ll be pushing out as much relevant MiLB info as possible in addition to our own site material. We are not in a vacuum and want to promote the great work that some of the other awesome websites and teams are generating too. But we are different and look forward to our first year as we strive to back up what we call ourselves – your comprehensive dynasty baseball league resource.
Thanks for reading and I personally look forward to corresponding with all of our staff and readers. Happy New Year!
