On Opening Day for minor league baseball, the Durham Bulls look to Chih-Wei Hu to take the mound to get the season started. Hu was looked upon as long relief bullpen option with the ability to start when called upon. The Rays 27th ranked prospect features a plus changeup and a fastball that touches in the lower 90’s. You will also see him mix it up with a palm ball to get hitters out. Hu will also mix in a curveball and a slider that scouts say “has above average potential”. The 24-year-old will use his changeup against both left and right handed hitters to get outs. There is plenty of room to grow and develop for Hu, but his solid numbers in Triple-A and his short stint with the Rays show a glimpse of what is potentially to come.
It’s official. Chih-Wei Hu gets the Opening Day start for the Bulls.

I'm Aaron Schuck, covering all things about the Tampa Bay Rays minor league system. I currently live in Monticello, GA where I teach high school and coach basketball. Even though I coach basketball, please do not let that fool you that I'm only a basketball guy. My love for baseball is very strong. I will watch or attend a baseball game over a basketball game any day of the week. My goal is to provide our readers with interesting and informative information that involves everything in the Rays minor league system.
