Hi all! Thanks for stopping by to see what I’m all about. My name is Joe Drake and I’m a born and raised Mainer who has lived all over New England and even Florida in the past few years. As little fun as moving is, it means that I’ve gotten to see baseball up and down the east coast and who can complain about that?

My favorite team is the St. Louis Cardinals, but my “hometown” Red Sox”>Red Sox have grown in my heart as my AL team. Baseball was my first love and I’m excited to be able to share that love on Prospects1500 as I’ll be covering the Double-A Eastern League. The Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox) and New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays) are within short drives from my home, and Hartford (Colorado) is only a couple hours and I hope to get there this summer too. I’m also not too far away from where the Vermont Lake Monsters (Oakland, Short Season) play in Burlington, VT.

I’ve been playing fantasy baseball since I discovered it back in the early 2000s. You mean, they made a game where I can run a team of baseball players based on the stats they put up? The teenaged stat head in me was in heaven. I’ll never forget that first summer of setting lineups and watching young phenoms Mark Prior and Josh Beckett announce their presence and put the National League on notice. I was hooked. These days, dynasty is my league of choice. I relish the thought of building a winning organization from rookie ball to the bigs.

When I’m not watching and writing about baseball, you can probably find me watching other sports. I’m an avid NFL and college football fan and I follow the NHL and NBA. I’m also learning to love soccer and really enjoy waking up to the EPL on weekend mornings. Outside of sports, I like to work out, spend time outdoors and with my fiancee and dog. I’ve also been known to hit the sticks now and then on PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
