Jake Mastroianni (South Atlantic League)

Hello baseball fans! My name is Jake Mastroianni and I’ll be covering the South Atlantic (Sally) League for Prospects1500. A little bit about me. I graduated from Auburn University in 2010 and have lived in Alabama my entire life.

I’ve always been an avid sports fans and have always loved baseball the most. During college I interned with the Tampa Bay Rays rookie league team (Princeton Rays) and it was the best experience of my life.

Since graduating I’ve pretty much been a freelance sports writer while maintaining a full-time job in the IT world. I’ve been freelancing writing about sports, and baseball in particular, for over 10 years now and love the freedom that I have to write when I want and what I want about baseball.

My favorite MLB team is the Atlanta Braves. Growing up in the Southeast during the 90s it was easy to fall in love with the Braves and their dominant run at that time — and it didn’t hurt that every game was on TBS.

I’m also a huge college baseball fan, and again, living in the Southeast I get to see some of the best players in the country in the SEC and ACC conferences. My hope is that knowledge of a lot of these college baseball players will help me give you a better evaluation of these players as they enter the lower level of the minors.

At Prospects1500 I hope to bring you insightful content as I travel to games throughout the Southeast (hopefully in the near future) and keep you up to date on rising stars in the greatest game in the world! Follow me on Twitter at @ShortStopBall.
