Eric Killian (Houston Astros)

Hey, I’m Eric. I’m a lifetime baseball fan, recreational fantasy baseball player and serious baseball card collector. Unlike most of the team, it’s my love of collecting that got me into prospecting. I covered the Padres for Prospects1500 until my career with the Army pulled me away for awhile. Now, I’m at Fort Hood and covering my hometown team, the Houston Astros! Their farm system has produced Jose Altuve, George Springer, Carlos Correa, Joe Musgrove, Alex Bregman, Kyle Tucker, Yordan Alvarez and more, yet they never get a lot of credit. I look forward to learning more about how they scout and develop players, as they seem to have an organizational eye that others lack. On that note, I’ll be working to develop my eye for prospects. My goal is to lean significantly less on traditional statistics and more on the complex blend of advanced stats, skillsets/toolsiness, and athleticism. We will see how that goes. I still love a guy who can hit for average.

Being in Fort Hood puts me near the Round Rock Express, which was an Astros farm team last time I saw them. Sadly they’ve moved on, but Sugar Land will be coming through a few times. As far as cards go, I collect most 2017-current Astros, primarily Alex Bregman, Kyle Tucker, and George Springer. I also collect cards of anyone who ever played for the Reds, and several other players. I’m on Twitter at @USKillian or, for baseball card content, @BaseballdayRCs.

Eric Killian is an Army Officer who covered the San Diego Padres for Prospects1500 when the site initially launched, but has since moved over to the Houston Astros. He is a longtime baseball fan and collector whose collecting inspired him to learn all he can about up-and-coming players. Follow him on Twitter @USKillian or @BaseBallDayRCs for strictly card collecting content.
