Doug Otto (High-A Central)

Hi, I’m Doug Otto and I’ll be covering the High-A Central league for Prospects1500. I’ve been reading Prospects1500 since the 2017 season so I’m very excited to join the team.

The High-A Central (formerly the Low-A Midwest League) is special to me because it’s where my Dayton Dragons play. I grew up in Dayton, Ohio and I was about 5 years old when the Dragons had their inaugural season in 2000 and got to go to my first game. The Dragons were (and continue to be) a big deal for Dayton, and I think just about every kid in school had a Dragons hat or t-shirt. Even though I didn’t really start following prospects until I started playing fantasy baseball, I think that excitement for the Dragons helped spark my current prospects/fantasy baseball interest. I now live in Chicago, but I still try to make sure I get to a Dragons game at least once a year.

I started playing dynasty baseball in 2016 and since then I’ve been combing through prospect information and stats religiously. At the time I was overwhelmed by all the information but motivated by the thrill of discovering a new name and getting the jump before any of my league mates. I’ve learned a lot since then, but part of what makes prospects fun is that I feel like I learn something new every day. I hope this can be a learning experience as much as I can help readers learn about prospects.

  1. I’ve been playing in a 10tm 40man roster H2H(7gm wkly,23stat.) private keeper league and have recently begun looking for a new, deeper format. I live in Northern Indiana so having a Goto for up-and-coming players from nearby is great.
