The All-Star Futures Game is scheduled for Saturday, July 12 at 4pm (eastern) at Truist Park in Atlanta as part of MLB’s All-Star Weekend. From the first game in 1999 until 2018, the United States faced the World’s prospects. That format changed in 2019 where the National League’s prospects squared off against the American League’s. This game features many of baseball’s top prospects as they can showcase their talents to a national audience.
Let’s take a look at the rosters broken down by position to see which team has the advantage. The first number next to the player is his ranking in our Overall Top 105 Prospects List from earlier this year. The second number is the player’s ranking on his team’s Top 50 List from this past preseason. Our updated midseason Top 50 Lists should be released later this summer. Rosters are subject to change as we get closer to the game depending on promotions, injuries or other factors.

Harry Ford, SEA 74 / 5
Carter Jensen, KC Unranked / 3
National League:
Alfredo Duno, CIN Unranked / 7
Joe Mack, MIA Unranked / 14
Eduardo Tait, PHI Unranked / 5
Advantage: American League
Briceno hasn’t stopped hitting since he won the MVP in the Arizona Fall League and Ford is hitting for more power than previous years.
Tait has power for days and is improving his overall hitting as he gains more experience. Mack is having another solid season after struggling when first drafted.

American League:
Kaelen Culpepper, MIN Unranked / 5
C.J. Kayfus, CLE Unranked / 8
George Lombard Jr., NYY 65 / 2
Brice Matthews, HOU Unranked / 3
Kevin McGonigle, DET 36 / 3

Konnor Griffin, PIT 30 / 2
LuJames Groover, ARI Unranked / 8
Jesus Made, MIL 37 / 2
Sal Stewart, CIN Unranked / 5
JJ Wetherholt, STL 22 / 1
Advantage: American League
Culpepper is having a nice rebound season for Minnesota while Matthews is filling up the stat sheet with his blend of speed and power for Houston. Kayfus and Lombard are both hitting for high averages but Lombard has yet to show much power. McGonigle is putting up amazing numbers this season and Walcott has great tools he will continue to develop.
Condon was just promoted to Double-A Hartford and De Vries is more potential now over performance. Made is in the same situation as De Vries but Griffin has been doing very well along with Stewart and Wetherholt.
Outfielders
American League:
Enrique Bradfield Jr., BAL 80 / 3
Max Clark, DET 3 / 1
Jhostynxon Garcia, BOS Unranked / 8
Lazaro Montes, SEA 50 / 6
Braden Montgomery, CWS Unranked / 57
National League:

Slade Caldwell, ARI Unranked / 5
Josue De Paula, LAD 34 / 1
Zyhir Hope, LAD 45 / 3
Esmerlyn Valdez, PIT Unranked / 37
Advantage: American League
Clark has been an on-base machine for Detroit even showing some flashes of power. Bradfield is having a solid year while Garcia is making a case to be in the upper echelon of prospect lists. Montes has 21 home runs and an OBP near.400.
Cassie is knocking on the major league’s door. Caldwell and Benge are both having solid seasons. Hope and De Paula have both also done very well for the Dodgers this season.
Pitchers
American League:
Jurrangelo Cijntje, SEA
Keagan Gillies, BAL Unranked
Brody Hopkins, TB 12
Gage Jump, ATH 24
George Klassen, LAA 3
Parker Messick, CLE 12
Frank Mozzicato, KC 12
Alimber Santa, HOU 20
Noah Schultz, CWS 17 / 1
Trey Yesavage, TOR 100 / 2
National League:
Marquis Grissom Jr., WAS 33
Hayden Harris, ATL 47
Andrew Painter, PHI 14 / 1
JR Ritchie, ATL 8
Travis Sykora, WAS 60 / 3
Jonah Tong, NYM 8
Carson Whisenhunt, SF 2
Thomas White, MIA 54 / 1
Jaxon Wiggins, CHC 12
Advantage: American League
Cijntje is a switch-pitcher who racks up the strikeouts but doesn’t have the best control. Jump is having a breakthrough season averaging over 13 K/9 and Messick leads the International League in strikeouts. Schultz and Yesavage both are also having great years. Hopkins looks to be the next Tampa pitching prospect to watch. Klassen has struggled this season after a very solid 2024 but has good potential.
Tong and Sykora have been simply dominant this season. It’s a nice feel good story seeing Grissom, Jr. play on the opposite side of his father in the game but his inclusion to the team was well deserved. Ritchie has pitched well this season out of the rotation while Harris has been very solid out of the pen.
Managers and Notable Coaches:
American League:
Marquis Grissom, Manager
Jerry Manuel, Bench Coach
Fred McGriff, Hitting Coach
Marvin Freeman, Pitching Coach
Johnny Estrada, Bullpen Coach
Brian Hunter, Third Base Coach
Dale Murphy, First Base Coach
Ryan Klesko, Coach
National League:
Chipper Jones, Manager
Mark DeRosa, Bench Coach
Andruw Jones, Hitting Coach
Tim Hudson, Pitching Coach
Peter Moylan, Bullpen Coach
Kanekoa Texeira, Third Base Coach
Tyler Flowers, First Base Coach
Nick Markakis, Coach
Advantage: American League
As great as some of the National League coaches were as players, when you have Dale Murphy and Fred McGriff on the same side coaching, magical things should happen. As in previous years, the hosting city’s past players make up the coaching squads and I’m sure many Atlanta Braves fans are happy with some of these names.
MVP Prediction
Kevin McGonigle – Detroit’s 1st round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft has been on a tear since Day 1, slashing .353/.448/.621/1.068 with 7 home runs over 40 games across Single-A/High-A. This will be his chance to show more people just how great he is and to keep his name in mind when discussing top prospects at the end of the season.
Game Prediction
American League – Good pitching beats good hitting, as the saying goes, and the American League can throw out some excellent starters for what’s usually only one inning per pitcher. Every one of them will leave it all out there for whatever time they’re given. Let’s go with American League 6-2 over the National League.
