As with every trade deadline, many prospects were moved in deals. It may take a few years to decide who were the winners of the deals, but that’s in the future. The fun part is seeing who got moved where and for whom. For those in AL/NL only leagues, quite a few players switched leagues which means you can get a jump on the better prospects if they are not already owned.
Relievers were in high demand and cost more in prospects than in previous seasons, but with so many teams looking to load up for the postseason run, it was definitely a seller’s market. The preseason ranks are, obviously, months old and most of these players will go up or down in our midseason rankings coming out soon. Keep your eyes out for them!

Garret Forrester, 1B
Rank on Team’s Preseason Top 50: 20
From: Pittsburgh Pirates
To: Miami Marlins
For: Bryan De La Cruz, OF

For: Nick Mears, RHP
According to @dgasper24 Herrera is just 20 years old and has improved every season in the minors with a breakout 2024 in High-A. He has a good size to stick as a starter being a ground ball pitcher but could also find a home in the bullpen.
Liam Hicks, C
Rank on Team’s Preseason Top 50: 35
From: Texas Rangers
To: Detroit Tigers
For: Carson Kelly, C

From: Philadelphia Phillies
To: Anaheim Angels

From: Texas Rangers
To: Detroit Tigers
For: Andrew Chafin, LHP
Montalvo has looked sharp in A ball for Detroit and could move up in Texas quickly.

Rank on Team’s Preseason Top 50: 20
From: New York Yankees
To: Chicago Cubs
For: Mark Leiter, Jr, RHP
According to @PaulWoodin1, Neely is a fastball/slider reliever. His fastball sits in the mid to high 90s and his slider is mid 80s. If his slider continues to work against more talented hitters, he could help Chicago in the near future. A late innings role is his career path.
Connor Norby, 2B
Rank on Team’s Preseason Top 50: 6

To: Miami Marlins
For: Trevor Rogers, LHP

Rank on Team’s Preseason Top 50: Unranked

To: Chicago White Sox
For: Three Way Deal – Miguel Vargas, Erick Fedde, Tommy Pham, etc

Rank on Team’s Preseason Top 50: 40
From: Chicago Cubs
To: Toronto Blue Jays
For: Nate Pearson, RHP

From: Arizona Diamondbacks
To: Miami Marlins
For: A.J. Puk, LHP
According to @blacksox96, Pintar is still just 23 years and can light up a box score with speed (19 steals) and a high OBP of .384 and could end up being the steal of that trade.

Portes is a young international signing who has some upside

Rank on Team’s Preseason Top 50: 12
From: New York Yankees
To: Miami Marlins
For: Jazz Chisholm, 2B/OF
According to @PaulWoodin1, with Ramirez’s bat speed and strength, he makes consistent contact and products impressive exit velocities. He could end up a power-over-hit type guy. He has surprising speed for a catcher. If catching doesn’t work out a move to 1st is possible.
Abrahan Ramirez, 2B/3B/OF
Rank on Team’s Preseason Top 50: Unranked
From: New York Yankees
To: Miami Marlins
For: Jazz Chisholm, 2B/OF
According to @PaulWoodin1, Ramirez signed from Venezuela for $30K in 2002 and hit .348/.447/.513 in 49 Complex league games. He has a good power/speed combo this early in his career and it will be interesting to see how he develops. Just 19 years old, he is a complex lottery ticket for the Marlins that I believe will work out.

From: New York Yankees
To: Miami Marlins
For: Jazz Chisholm, 2B/OF
Per @PaulWoodin1, Serna has good plate discipline, barrels up balls well and isnt afraid to take the extra base with his hustle and speed. He has a good combo of power and speed. A utility infielder or little more is in the cards for Serna.
Jacob Sharp, C
Rank on Team’s Preseason Top 50: Unranked
From: Seattle Mariners
To: Toronto Blue Jays
For: Yimi Garcia, RHP
Jun-Seok Shim, RHP
Rank on Team’s Preseason Top 50: 16

From: New York Mets
To: Washington Nationals
For: Jesse Winker, OF

Trey Sweeney, SS
Rank on Team’s Preseason Top 50: 10
From: Los Angeles Dodgers
To: Detroit Tigers
For: Jack Flaherty, RHP
Sweeney hasn’t developed as originally hoped but a change of scenery could help him unlock his offensive potential.

Nick Yorke, 2B
Rank on Team’s Preseason Top 50: 6
