Hello all!
My name is Matt Hammerling. I am honored and excited to join the Prospects1500 staff as the Arizona Diamondbacks writer.
I live in southeast Wisconsin and grew up watching the Brew Crew at glorious County Stadium. Ben Oglivie and Cecil Cooper were my favorite players. I have fond memories of many games sitting in the left field bleachers and of the time Glenn Braggs autographed my ball in the dugout during a game. Also remember Brady Anderson giving a ball boy a hard time for not being able to throw very well in warm ups between innings. Made the kid cry. Not cool Brady.
Been playing fantasy baseball since 1992 back in the days when I had to keep stats by hand using the Milwaukee Journal and Baseball Weekly. These days I try to get into as many leagues and as many formats as I can handle each year. I’ve had the prospect bug for over a decade now, competing in a few dynasty leagues, and a couple super deep 250+ minor league roster leagues.
Each summer I get out to see a few Kane County Cougars games. I also hit the road and check out the Beloit Snappers and Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. This helps me keep tabs on Diamondbacks, A’s, and Brewers A-ballers. Also, I usually get out to Arizona for spring training every year.
