William Shea (White Sox)

Hello all! My name is William Shea and I will be covering the Chicago White Sox organization here at Prospects1500. Being born and raised in the suburbs just outside of Chicago, I’m really excited to be covering my hometown team.

I’d say about 10 or so years ago, I went from a casual baseball fan to a much more serious fan when I started to attend more and more Kane County Cougars game. The Cougars are a minor league affiliate for the Arizona Diamondbacks, but are a mere 30 minute drive for me. As I started to attend more games there, my affinity for minor league baseball skyrocketed. It became apparent to me that my love for the game went beyond MLB and deep within the ranks of minor league baseball. I try to attend roughly 40 games a year with the majority coming from the Cougars. I’ve seen the likes of Eloy Jimenez, Dylan Cease, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, and Gavin Lux in the past couple years. It’s been amazing following guys in A-Ball to becoming a top 100 prospect and all the way to the major leagues. That’s the beauty, and one of my favorite things about minor league ball.

Like a few others on this site, I am a passionate sports memorabilia collector. Ranging from baseball cards, to signed balls, to game used bats, I find myself always looking to add to my collection. Apart from sports and sports memorabilia, I am a 6th grade math teacher in the northern part of Illinois. I also coach basketball which, like baseball, is something I’m very passionate about. This coming spring (spring of 2019), I will be heading and sponsoring a sports analytics club at the school I work at.

Whether it be about the Chicago White Sox org, the Midwest League, sports memorabilia, or anything at all, feel free to follow and tweet me @0RunsIn1st. I look forward to working with alongside some great people here at Prospects1500 as well as interact with as many people as possible on Twitter! Go Sox!
