Joe Rush (Mariners)

Growing up in Northeastern Pennsylvania, everyone I knew were either Phillies, Yankees, Pirates or Orioles fans.   To be different, I chose to become a fan of the New York Mets whose games were carried locally on WWOR-TV.   I watched close to 100 games in 1986 I can still recite their batting order and rotation.

In 1991, I moved to Seattle, WA and started attending Mariners games down at the Kingdome when center field bleacher tickets would cost just a couple of bucks and I would get to see Ken Griffey, Jr. on a regular basis.   My first year in Seattle ended up being their first ever winning season.  Although, they currently have the longest postseason drought in Major League baseball, I will always have 1995 when “The Kid” saved baseball in the Pacific Northwest and 2001’s record breaking 116 win season.

I’m looking forward to covering the Mariners for Prospects1500, with the Single-A Everett AquaSox and Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers within driving distance.

  1. Hi Joe. When can we expect an update of your rankings for the Mariners top 50 prospects for 2021? Is this the month that the rankings for the various teams get posted?

    • Hi Jarrett,

The top 50 rankings started on January 1 with the Pirates. One organization will be posted everyday this month, with my updated Mariners Top 50 getting posted on Tuesday January 12!

      Thanks,

      Joe
